A class trip to see the Nutcracker at NYC Ballet when I was 8 years old had a pretty strong influence on me as a little girl. From then on, I’ve been passionate about dance, drama and anything to do with theatre and film.
I was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and raised with my twin sister and older brother in Rochester, NY, by my two very hard-working parents. From them I received a strong work ethic, a love of God, and a passion for the performing arts. Although I was interested in other fields, my intuition has always told me that the arts would be the one constant source of joy in my life, as well as the channel thru, which I could most easily connect to God. My parents were both very active in the community and instilled in me a passion for social justice and activism. I also learned from them the importance of helping others in need.
After graduating from high school, I attended the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, from which I graduated with a BFA acting. After performing at various theatres in New York and around the country, I took some time to learn about the business/producing aspect of the business by working for Lee Daniels Entertainment. Lee Daniels is the Academy Award winning producer of Monsters Ball and director of Precious. This experience taught me so much, and I really got to know and understand another side of the industry.
I recently completed shooting my first feature length film, Millie and the Lords, which is currently in post-production! The film was inspired by the Young Lords Party, a Puerto Rican revolutionary group that fought for civil rights for Puerto Ricans during the 60′s and 70′s.
