This is turning out to be a very “theaterful” week.
On Tuesday nite I got to see some fantastic improv shows at the Magnet Theatre. “Rosencrantz”, as the group is called, gets a suggestion from the audience and then proceeds to create an entire musical based on this one suggestion. At this show, someone yelled out needles, but they misheard , and thought that it was “Beatles”. So each group member assumed the role of a different Beatle member attempting to make some sort of comeback. It was hilarious.
Last nite I went to see a great play that my sister was stage managing for called Ghetto Babylon. It was performed at the Soho Playhouse and it featured some really amazing actors. The story centered around a young man from the South Bronx who loves baseball and hanging out with his cousins, but who also loves reading and school. When he is offered a scholarship at a prestigious boarding school in New Hampshire, he has to choose: does he accept the offer to go to this great school, or does he stay with his best friends and go with them to the baseball championships?
Tomorrow afternoon I will be going to see a play called Stick Fly, which Alicia Keys is producing. Stay tuned for a brief review!! 🙂
