On Friday nite I went to see a friends show at the Duplex theatre. It was fantastic. The show, in honor of Valentines Day, centered around the personal relationship experiences of each of the performers. There were funny stories, sad stories, disgusting stories, and inspiring stories. Each story was matched with related song. The show was produced by Catrina Q, and you can find out more about it at http://www.catrinaq.com!
On Sunday I saw a great production of Neil Simons play,”Broadway Bound”. I loved this play and the actors were all well cast and strong. The family and their story was so similar to my own it was almost weird. It centers around two brothers who live in Brooklyn (near where I live!) who are trying to make it into show business. While this is going on, their parents are going thru a seperation, an aging socialist grandfather is constantly complaining, and an aunt is estranged because she moved to a rich “capitalist” neighborhood and is no longer considered “one of them”. The actor who played Eugene(who I also saw in Midsummer over the summer in NJ) was particularly good!
Had my first voice class on Saturday and have the next one next week. It feels so good to be singing again! Indie go go has come to a close. (Now to get those packets out in the mail. ) I’ve had about three commercial auditions in the last week and another one coming up on Monday.
I finally saw “Waiting for Superman” and will post about that next.
Happy Monday!! 🙂
